Events plan builds on strengths
Auckland City's newly launched 2005/2006 events strategy builds on the city's key strengths: diversity, geographical advantages and creativity.
Mayor Dick Hubbard says the action plan represents a victory for Auckland.
"Great events reflect great cities – they make people feel they're part of a city they can be proud of. We want to celebrate what's best about our city. This action plan celebrates what Auckland has to offer – creative genius, diverse ethnicities and cultures, outdoor activities and the city's beautiful harbours and beaches."

http://nzherald.co.nz/section/story.cfm?c_id=1&ObjectID=10346608
One of the most congested parts of the Auckland motorway system, the Newmarket Viaduct, will be replaced at a cost of $142 million but with minimal disruption to traffic.
The new structure will have an extra lane to ease congestion on the Southern Motorway, which now carries about 200,000 vehicles a day - the highest volume of traffic in the country.
